USB-C has essentially solidified itself as the new modern cable connector for this generation and onwards. With it's portable size and charging capabilities USB-C offers charging benefits for greater wattages and expanding supported devices.

History of Power Delivery
Before USB-C, devices could only charge at a maximum of 15W, with some not being able to go past 7.5W. USB-C was designed to enable faster charging without the restriction of the mechanical design of older USB cables, not being able to safely handle the power.
USB-C separates the channel configuration between the source and the link. in 2014, USB-C released Power Delivery 2.0 which allowed 100W of power over 20V connections. The main purpose was to support higher voltage requirements beyond the previous standard.

Power Delivery 3.0 and It's Benefits
With Power Delivery 3.0, the same charging rates are produced more efficiently and more efficient for battery life. PD 3.0 Chargers are integrated with diagnostics for devices by reporting status such as high temperatures, or drop in charging speed for whatever reason. The ability to control charging power management with VBUS power to allow optimal charging rates for keeping the battery healthy. Take advantage by determining whether your charger supports PD 3.0 before purchasing it to get the most up to date fast charging capabilities.
